From the moment Shoutarou Tatewaki crosses paths with Sakurako Kujou, he realizes his world will never remain the same. Initially suspecting her of a local disappearance, he gradually uncovers her genuine talent for bone analysis. Although Sakurako boasts a decent collection of reconstructed animal bones, she yearns for human remains, much to the dismay of those close to her. Subsequently, Shoutarou finds himself accompanying the unusual osteologist on various unsolved cases, often involving decomposing corpses. As the number of cases escalates, could there be a more convoluted puzzle lurking in the background of their lives? Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru narrates the tale of two unlikely associates who demonstrate that while bones can reveal how somebody passed away, only humans have the power to convey how they lived their lives.
