Description:

With the graduation of Koyomi Araragi and Hitagi Senjougahara, Naoetsu Private High School is now populated by scarce familiar faces. However, one such face is Suruga Kanbaru, the keeper of the Monkey's Paw. Kanbaru becomes aware of rumors regarding a mysterious being called the "Devil," who can miraculously cure any problem. She assumes the rumors are about herself and decides to investigate. Upon investigation, Kanbaru discovers that the Devil is actually Rouka Numachi, her former basketball adversary from junior high. Rouka, who has a leg injury that prevents her from playing, offers free counsel to those who seek her out. As a collector of misfortunes, Rouka relishes in alleviating her clients' worries by giving them false hope of solving their issues. Kanbaru recognizes no harm being done but reprimands Rouka for lying and returns home, comforted that she isn't the subject of the rumors. However, she is taken aback by the realization that her left hand has transformed back to its human form, raising a sense of concern within her.
