Description:
Asuna Yuuki is excelling in both academic and social realms, making her well on her way to acing her high school entrance exams. However, her classmate and friend Misumi "Mito" Tozawa suggests that Asuna take a brief break from studying to join her on launch day of Sword Art Online (SAO), a highly-anticipated virtual reality multiplayer game. Asuna agrees and soon finds herself immersed in the game alongside Mito. However, the joy of the game is short-lived as all players, including Asuna and Mito, become trapped inside SAO indefinitely. The only escape is to clear all one hundred floors of the game, and death in the game equates to death in reality. The once exhilarating game has become a fatal threat, leaving Asuna and her fellow gamers, such as solitary swordsman Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya, to learn to adapt and survive amidst the harsh competition in a race to the top.
