Description:
Shuurei Kou, hailing from a noble yet cash-strapped family, possesses a sharp mind and yearns to serve her country as a government official. She encounters an obstacle, however, as women are forbidden from holding such positions. While her father works as an archivist for the palace, Shuurei must juggle various odd jobs to make ends meet. One fateful day, an unexpected visit alters the course of her life. Shuurei receives a summons to assist Ryuuki Shi, the new emperor notorious for his indolence and preference for male companionship. Allured by the generous remuneration, she agrees to become the young emperor's consort for six months. In a stroke of luck, Seiran Shi, her loyal confidante, accompanies her as Ryuuki's bodyguard. As she endeavours to mold the inexperienced emperor into a commendable leader, the politics and intrigues of court present formidable obstacles. Set in a make-believe realm, Saiunkoku Monogatari highlights the significance of effective governance, the challenges it poses, and its potential rewards in the form of a prosperous nation.
