Once again, Xie Lian makes his appearance amidst quaking heavens and rumbling thunder, sporting an apologetic smile. Once, revered as the Crown Prince of Xianle, a martial deity held in high esteem, he now ascends to the realm of the gods as a faceless deity with no followers to his name. Venturing out on his first assignment, Xie Lian finds himself traversing a dim, moonlit forest. A stranger, garbed in red, meets him there, leading him through the trees. However, their encounter is brief, as the red-clad man vanishes, replaced by a swarm of shimmering butterflies. As it turns out, the person Xie Lian encountered was none other than Hua Cheng, the Crimson Rain Sought Flower, the Ghost King who strikes fear into the hearts of both gods and demons. Xie Lian is taken aback by Cheng's aid to a Heavenly Official, and before he can grasp the magnitude of the situation, he meets San Lang. San Lang is a young man who possesses knowledge of both the forgotten Crown Prince and the Ghost King. He joins Xie Lian on his quest to uncover the mysteries of the past.
