Description:
Haikara-san ga Tooru is set in the 1920s and follows the spirited Benio, a tomboy with a passionate desire to live life on her own terms. She develops a contentious relationship with a dashing half-German soldier named Shinobu, whom she initially dislikes despite his help with her frequent mishaps. Soon, Benio discovers that she's been betrothed to Shinobu in an arranged marriage, leaving her with conflicting emotions. As the story progresses, Shinobu must fight in a war, Benio must deal with familial and work issues, and they together face the looming threat of the Kanto earthquake. Through many twists and turns, Haikara-san ga Tooru tells the tale of two unlikely lovers forced to navigate the challenges of a turbulent era.
